Qum
Qum from the nineteen twenties just as the carpet production in Qum was starting to grow in importance to compete with the houses in Isfahan and Kashan. The carpet fields comprise lines of boteh representing the seed of life but elaborated into a new distinct floral form quite overbrimming with vitality and multiple flourishings as the reds and the blues and the browns combine on the ivory base. The tip of the boteh almost bows like the head from the neck of an elegant bird bowing in homage to the flower it has brought forth. The borders are simple, clean and frame the main field like hedges surrounding a garden.
