Turkoman Tekke
An extremely fine wool on a silk frame commercial piece produced as part of the Soviet commercial commitment in the middle of the twentieth century achieving around a thousand knots per square inch. The bright madder red colour suggests that it is not dyed with natural dyes. The outer shape of the gul suggests it might be Afghan or Persian Mauri or Saryk if it was not made as a display piece in a folklore shop. Likely date 1960. Excellent condition. Used and worn since 2000 only.
